Marasco has vanished—without a trace, leaving Sam, alone and torn between memories and an emptiness he cannot fill. His desperate search for his friend has taken him far from who he once was, and still he finds no peace.

In a world of shadows, fleeting rumors, and ancient gods, Sam battles the voice in his mind—and his escape into oblivion.

This short story takes place between The Hunters of the North and The Desert of Souls, the second installment of the Raven Trilogy.
