"I wrote this trilogy because I am convinced – and truly believe – that the protagonists Sam and Marasco are more relevant today than ever before.

Sam is the one who wants to help, who seeks change, and who is willing to risk everything to achieve it. He performs a ritual without knowing what awaits him. The outcome is not what he hoped for – yet he keeps fighting. Again and again.

Marasco, on the other hand, is estranged from his true self, scarred by experiences that have broken him. He has given up, and yet even death is denied to him. His greatest lesson is to realize that accepting help is not a weakness – because at some point, we all need it.

What connects the two of them is more than friendship. It is something that runs deeper, down to the very roots. They could not be more different, and yet they are bound together, close to one another. They fight for each other, even if not on the same side.

I believe there is a Sam and a Marasco within each of us. If we learned to fight not against one another, but for one another, this world could become a better place."
